Hong Kong complain that they do not yet have a full democracy. Before being returned to China in 1997 were still a colony, the governor appointed under British rule. China says they have a communist "party." However, the Communist Party will allow the venture capitalists and private landowners to join. Therefore, it is no longer a communist party. Taiwan could be more democratic, but also have the freedom to take off their shoes and punching in Congress. However, China is much Congress more civilized, but not democratic. I guess when you have rights, they also have the right to beat anyone I disagree with you. China has passed legislation to protect Taiwan as part of its territory, however, can not defend Taiwan against himself. Based on the latest survey, 99% of Chinese believe that Taiwan is part of China. If a free election takes place today in China, including Taiwan, Taiwan is not the great democracy, to gain their independence. Chiang Kai Shek was the leader in Taiwan KMT, which lost the civil war, when he retired to Taiwan. However, he was furious when Mongolia won its independence from China under the Soviet aid. He supported the CIA backed Tibetan resistance against Chinese communist however, is absolutely contrary to the independence of Tibet.
