Cost of living in Hong Kong?

Hi, I have curiosity for those of you who are Hong Kong or Hong Kong native workers and would like to ask you a question. My question says it all, what is the cost of living in an apartment in Hong Kong. I was doing some research and I think it is so expensive. The rental is as more than 10,000 Hong Kong dollars a month! Am I seeing this right? How do you get by? Public housing know about Hong Kong, but what are the requirements?
